Nollywood actor and skit maker Odira Nwobu dies suddenly in South Africa

Nollywood actor and fast-rising content creator, Odira Nwobu, has reportedly died, leaving the entertainment industry in deep shock and grief.

The news of his passing surfaced on Monday after blogger and fellow creator Awuzie Frankline announced the development in an emotional Facebook post.

Frankline also shared a video showing Nwobu lying motionless but did not reveal what may have caused the tragedy.

Very Nigerian gathered that Nwobu died just hours after a night out at a club in South Africa over the weekend. A member of his team also confirmed the incident to this newspaper through a phone call.

Frankline, who appeared devastated by the news, expressed his pain in several posts.

“God, why! Odira, why leave us?” he wrote. “The call I received now was not a good one. Odiegwu.”

In another post, he said he had seen Nwobu full of energy not long ago.

“You were full of life even some hours ago in South Africa, and you even had your thanksgiving service just a few months ago. Many people came to celebrate with you.”

“How can you return from South Africa lifeless? I am drowning in tears. Death is rude. I am heartbroken,” he wrote.

Another comedian Prophet Rolex also wrote on face: “2weeks ago or so we dropped this Friday you gave me a business proposal which was planned to give you feedback back today not knowing is going to be my last hearing from you I love odico the man that also made me what I am today A lot to say but hmmmm”

Also, Comedian Evan Okoro also reacted to the news, sharing a photo of the late actor with the caption:
“How? No… I can’t believe this. Nooooo.”

Nwobu, known for his comedy skits and roles in various Nollywood films, had built a growing fanbase both online and on screen, he gathered over 2.5M followers on Facebook and gathered thousands in other social platforms.

His sudden death has drawn an outpouring of condolences from colleagues, friends, and fans who are still struggling to accept the sad news.
