2027: Major Jack picked as Chinda’s running mate in Rivers
The Majority Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Major Jack, has emerged as the deputy governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state ahead of the 2027 election.
The development was confirmed on Tuesday by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Ikenga Chibike.
Jack will serve as the running mate to the APC governorship candidate, Kingsley Ogundu Chinda, in the 2027 Rivers State governorship election.
His emergence adds to the party’s preparations for the election as it works to strengthen its ticket ahead of the poll.
Very Nigerian recalls that Chinda emerged as the governorship candidate of the ruling party after the primary election held in May 2026.
The choice of Jack was said to be part of efforts to achieve geographical balance on the ticket and strengthen the party’s grassroots support, particularly in the riverine areas of the state.
Jack defected to the APC in December 2025 alongside the Speaker of the House, Martin Amaewhule, and several other lawmakers.
