2027: Release our leader or forget our votes – Miyetti Allah tells Tinubu, APC

The Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, a Fulani socio-cultural organisation, has threatened to withdraw its support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections unless its national president, Bello Bodejo, is released from the custody of the State Security Service (SSS).

The group made its position known during a press conference held at Bodejo’s residence in Uke, Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

Fulani leaders from different parts of the country attended the briefing.

Speaking at the event, the Nasarawa State Chairman of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, Akhajo Abubakar, said the group would mobilise its votes for political leaders who, in its assessment, genuinely support the interests and development of the Fulani community.

“We did not vote for APC to arrest our leaders. Our votes this time will go to those who want our progress,” Abubakar said.

He specifically linked the group’s position ahead of the 2027 election to the continued detention of Bodejo, insisting that the treatment of Fulani leaders would influence the group’s political decisions.

Abubakar also claimed that the Fulani community has more than one million voters in Nasarawa State alone.

However, he did not provide any voter registration data or other evidence to substantiate the figure.

Bodejo is currently facing legal proceedings in connection with a money-laundering case. A court recently reduced his bail bond from N2 billion, according to reports.

The latest position by Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore adds to the growing political bargaining and realignments among socio-cultural and political groups ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The APC has yet to publicly respond to the group’s demand for Bodejo’s release.
