Nigerian Air Force recruitment 2026: requirements, deadline and How to Apply

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has commenced its 2026 recruitment exercise for suitably qualified Nigerians seeking to enlist as Airmen and Airwomen under the Tradesmen/Women and Non-Tradesmen/Women categories.

The recruitment is being conducted under the Basic Military Training Course (BMTC) 47/2026.

Online applications open on September 3, 2026, and close on October 14, 2026. Registration is free of charge.

About NAF Recruitment 2026

The Nigerian Air Force’s Basic Military Training Course is designed to recruit and train candidates who will serve as Airmen and Airwomen.

The BMTC is a short-period military training programme, normally not exceeding six months, and is mainly targeted at candidates with secondary school qualifications as well as those with relevant technical, professional and trade qualifications.

For the 47/2026 exercise, the NAF has provided separate requirements for Tradesmen/Women and Non-Tradesmen/Women applicants.

NAF Recruitment Age Requirements

Applicants should carefully check their dates of birth against the applicable age requirement before applying.

General NAF Recruitment Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be Nigerian citizens by birth.
  • Meet the required age limit for their category.
  • Meet the minimum height requirement.
  • Be medically, physically and psychologically fit.
  • Meet the NAF’s medical and employment standards.
  • Have no previous conviction on criminal grounds.

The minimum height is 1.66 metres for males and 1.63 metres for females.

Tradesmen/Women Requirements

ND/NCE Minimum Lower Credit from an accredited institution
O’Level At least 5 credits, including English and Mathematics
Examination WAEC, NECO, GCE, NABTEB, NBAIS or equivalent

Drivers Relevant qualification and valid driving licence
Trade Test Required for applicable trades
Sports applicants Evidence of professional sporting experience, certificates and medals

Candidates with ND/NCE qualifications must have obtained their certificates from accredited institutions and possess the required O’Level credits.

Applicants for driving and other trades requiring a Trade Test Certificate must possess the relevant trade qualification. Drivers must also have an appropriate valid driving licence.

Sportsmen and women applying under the trades category are required to provide evidence of professional sporting experience, including relevant certificates and medals.

Non-Tradesmen/Women Requirements

Applicants under this category must satisfy all educational and other eligibility requirements specified by the NAF.

Documents Required

Successful applicants are required to print and retain the relevant documents generated during the application process.

The Local Government Area Attestation Form must be signed by an authorised person specified by the Nigerian Air Force and accompanied by the required identification documents and passport photograph.

How to Apply for NAF Recruitment 2026

Eligible applicants should follow these steps:

  2. Select the appropriate recruitment exercise.
  3. Read the eligibility requirements carefully.
  4. Select either Tradesmen/Women or Non-Tradesmen/Women.

NAF Recruitment 2026 Aptitude Test

Successful applicants will proceed to a Zonal General Aptitude Test.

The date of the test will be communicated through the NAF recruitment portal. Candidates who successfully pass the aptitude test will proceed to the Selection Interview.
