BREAKING: APC chieftain Ehiozuwa Agbonayinma officially petitions EFCC, asks anti-graft agency to reopen, prosecute Atiku over alleged financial crimes
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former member of the House of Representatives, Ehiozuwa Agbonayinma, has formally petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), calling on the anti-graft agency to reopen investigations and prosecute former Vice President Atiku Abubakar over alleged financial crimes.
Agbonayinma is asking the EFCC to revisit the allegations against Atiku, insisting that the former Vice President should be made to answer questions over the claims.
The petition comes amid heightened political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, with Atiku emerging as one of the major opposition figures seeking to challenge the ruling APC.
The APC chieftain’s demand has generated political interest, particularly given the ongoing realignment among opposition politicians ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
However, the allegations contained in the petition remain claims and have not been established as fact by a court.
The development is expected to fuel further debate over the role of anti-graft agencies and the use of corruption allegations in Nigeria’s increasingly heated political contest.
