ADC ready for anything, confident of defeating APC in 2027 — Bolaji Abdullahi

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has expressed confidence in its ability to defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general election if the poll is conducted freely and fairly.

The ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, stated this during an interview on the Naija Unfiltered Podcast while responding to questions about the opposition party’s chances amid the emergence of multiple opposition groups ahead of the election.

Abdullahi said the party had no doubt about its prospects at the polls but expressed concern over the credibility of the electoral process.

“Yes, we believe so. In a free and fair election, we have no doubt in my mind that we win this election,” he said.

The ADC spokesman said the party was preparing for different possible scenarios and would take steps to protect its votes during the election.

He alleged that the APC could attempt to manipulate the electoral process, saying the opposition party was prepared to defend its votes.

“The challenge is: Will there be a fair and fair election? We are ready for that. We are ready for anything,” Abdullahi said.

He added, “If you are dealing with these APC people, you have to be ready for anything quickly because we know that they want to steal the election. We will police our vote.”

Abdullahi also referred to a recent comment attributed to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, concerning the outcome of the Osun State governorship election.

According to the ADC spokesman, Wike’s suggestion that he could have delivered Osun State to the APC if he had been in the state raised questions about the possibility of political actors influencing electoral outcomes.

“What does that mean? That regardless of what the Osun people think, you have a way to deliver it. That’s confession,” he said.

Abdullahi further alleged that the ruling party had resorted to threats because it had lost public support.

“We know Nigerians have abandoned them. They know Nigerians have abandoned them, and that’s why they are threatening everybody,” he said.

The ADC publicity secretary said the party was therefore preparing extensively for the 2027 election, particularly to ensure that votes cast for its candidates were properly protected throughout the electoral process.

The opposition party’s position comes amid increasing political activity ahead of the 2027 general election, with various opposition parties and political blocs seeking to challenge the APC at the presidential and legislative levels.
