2027 Election: INEC opens portal for Ad-Hoc Staff recruitment – Apply Now

The Independent National Electoral Commission has opened its online portal for the recruitment of ad-hoc staff for the 2027 General Election.

The commission said interested and eligible Nigerians can apply through the INECPRES (INEC Portal for the Engagement of Election Staff), which is currently active.

According to the official INECPRES portal, the application window will close on Wednesday, November 18, 2026.

INEC is recruiting personnel across several categories, including Supervisory Presiding Officers (SPOs), Registration Area Centre (RAC) Managers, Presiding Officers (POs), Assistant Presiding Officers (APOs), and Registration Area Technical Support (RATECH).

Available Positions

The commission’s current portal provides the following categories:

• Supervisory Presiding Officer (SPO): Public or civil servants on Grade Level 10–14, as well as eligible INEC staff not engaged in other election duties.
• Registration Area Centre (RAC) Manager: Heads of schools or staff on Grade Level 07 and above in institutions or public buildings hosting RAC centres.
• Presiding Officer (PO)/Assistant Presiding Officer (APO): Eligible serving NYSC members, penultimate-year students of federal or state tertiary institutions with IT knowledge, qualifying MDA staff, eligible INEC staff and former corps members.
• Registration Area Technical Support (RATECH): Applicants with the required IT background and eligibility for the category.

INEC also requires applicants to meet other eligibility conditions. The official portal states that applicants must not be members of a political party or have demonstrated or expressed support for any candidate or political party. Applicants are also generally required to reside in the state selected, except for RATECH applicants.

How to Apply

Interested applicants are required to access the official INECPRES registration portal and create or update their profiles, depending on whether they are new or returning applicants.

Application Deadline

The INECPRES portal states that applications for the 2027 General Election ad-hoc staff recruitment will close on November 18, 2026.

Applicants are advised to complete their registration before the deadline and use only official INEC channels for the exercise.

The recruitment is part of INEC’s preparations for the 2027 General Election, with the commission expected to engage thousands of temporary election personnel for various electoral duties.
