Drug allegations: ‘Prove your innocence, allow FBI release records’ – US firm challenges Tinubu
A United States-based policy advisory and lobbying firm, Von Batten-Montague-York, has challenged President Bola Tinubu to support the release of Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) records relating to allegations of heroin trafficking reportedly linked to him.
The firm made the call in a statement published on its verified X account on Thursday.
It accused Tinubu of trying to present himself as an anti-drug campaigner, arguing that his recent advocacy would amount to a “desperate stunt” unless he backed the release of the records.
The firm’s statement adds to the ongoing public debate surrounding the allegations and calls for greater transparency over the records reportedly held by the FBI.
The allegations remain claims attributed to the firm and should not be treated as established facts.
The firm said its principal, Dr Von Batten, met with Republican and Democratic congressional staffers on Wednesday to discuss several issues, including the allegations concerning Tinubu.
“If President Tinubu is committed to fighting drug trafficking, we challenge him to publicly call for the FBI to release all records concerning alleged heroin trafficking reportedly connected to him.
“We also challenge him to withdraw his petition before the US court opposing their disclosure,” the firm said in the statement.
