2027: Kwankwaso a goat in sheep’s clothing, secretly working for Tinubu – Atiku Campaign Council
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) Presidential Campaign Council has accused Rabiu Kwankwaso, the running mate to Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi, of supporting the former Anambra State governor out of personal ambition rather than a genuine commitment to the opposition.
The Director of Media and Publicity of the ADC Presidential Campaign Council, Kola Ologbondiyan, alleged that Kwankwaso was not fully committed to Obi’s candidacy or the opposition’s efforts to defeat President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general election.
Ologbondiyan made the remarks while reacting to Kwankwaso’s call for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the ADC’s presidential candidate, to withdraw from the race.
Kwankwaso had disclosed that he urged some Fulani groups to persuade Atiku to step down ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Reacting, Ologbondiyan described the call as reckless and self-serving, alleging that it was intended to advance Tinubu’s political interests.
In a statement, the ADC campaign council said Kwankwaso’s position had raised questions about his commitment to the opposition’s collective objective.
The statement read in part: “The African Democratic Congress Presidential Campaign Council (ADC-PCC) has berated Senator @KwankwasoRM over his call for former Vice President @atiku Abubakar to step down for Mr @PeterObi, describing the statement as reckless, self-serving and a desperate attempt to advance President @officialABAT’s political interests ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
“Nigerians are not fooled. There is a growing perception that Kwankwaso’s support for Peter Obi is driven more by his personal ambition than by a genuine commitment to the opposition’s collective objective of defeating the APC.”
The ADC campaign council’s remarks add to the growing exchanges among opposition figures over candidate selection, political alliances and strategies for challenging Tinubu in 2027.
