2027: Eight Zamfara lawmakers set to return to APC after meeting Tinubu
Eight Zamfara State lawmakers who recently resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) have resolved to return to the ruling party following a meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The lawmakers reportedly met with the President on Sunday night and agreed to work towards the APC’s success in the 2027 general election.
They were led to the meeting by the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, alongside a member of the House of Representatives, Aminu Sani Jaji.
The development comes amid reports that the lawmakers were planning to defect to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
However, following their meeting with Tinubu, the lawmakers are said to have dropped plans to join the opposition party, while efforts are underway to address the grievances that prompted their departure from the APC.
The lawmakers are:
1. Aliyu Ango Kagara — Talata Mafara South
2. Ibrahim Tukur Bakura — Bakura
3. Faruk Musa Dosara — Maradun I
4. Bashir Abubakar Masama — Bukkuyum North
5. Muktaru Nasiru Kaura — Kaura North
6. Nasiru Abdullahi — Maru North
7. Bashar Bello — Bungudu West
8. Bashar Aliyu — Gummi I
Their reported decision to return to the APC could strengthen the party’s efforts to consolidate its position in Zamfara State ahead of the 2027 general election.
