Nigerian rapper and activist Eedris Abdulkareem has had his Facebook and Instagram accounts suspended by Meta, barely days after he released a politically charged new single titled ‘Open Letter to Donald Trump’.

Checks by Very Nigerian confirmed that both accounts have been rendered inaccessible, raising fresh conversations about censorship, political expression and the growing crackdown on dissenting voices.

The controversial track, released on TikTok on November 29, 2025 under his imprint Lakreem Entertainment, is couched as a message to U.S. President Donald Trump but takes direct aim at Nigeria’s political class.

In the song, Abdulkareem labels Nigerian leaders as “criminals of all shades and hues” who enrich themselves while ordinary citizens grapple with worsening insecurity, from kidnappings to killings and terrorism.
He further suggests that Nigerian politicians “fear Donald Trump,” framing the track as an attempt to draw global attention to Nigeria’s escalating crises.

The veteran rapper is no stranger to political confrontation. In June 2024, he released ‘Emilokan’, challenging RCCG founder Pastor Enoch Adeboye to be as outspoken against President Bola Tinubu’s government as he was during Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.

Earlier in the year, he dropped ‘Tell Your Papa’, a direct jab at Seyi Tinubu, urging him to relay Nigerians’ suffering to his father.”

“The track was subsequently banned by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) for allegedly violating Section 3.1.8 of the Nigerian Broadcasting Code.

Abdulkareem’s long history of musical activism dates back decades. His iconic 2004 hit ‘Jaga Jaga’, which painted a grim picture of Nigeria’s socio-economic decay, was famously banned by then-President Olusegun Obasanjo, yet went on to become an underground anthem.

With his latest accounts suspension coinciding with another explosive release, questions continue to rise on whether Abdulkareem is being targeted for his outspoken political stance, or if Meta is acting on policy violations unrelated to the new song.
