2027: ‘If they can match my energy, vote for them’ – Makinde jumps off stage to challenge rivals
He said, “I will not make age an issue in this campaign, but I will make it about energy – having energy, being able to stay up late, and having the rigour to deal with the challenges in the country
Oyo State Governor and Allied Peoples Movement (APM) presidential candidate, Seyi Makinde, has challenged his supporters to vote for any other candidate who can match his physical energy ahead of the 2027 general election.
Makinde made the challenge on Thursday while demonstrating his physical fitness in a video that has circulated on social media. In the footage, the governor was seen jumping down from a stage to showcase his strength.
He argued that the demands of the office of the President require considerable energy, suggesting that physical fitness should be an important consideration in choosing Nigeria’s next leader.
He stressed that the challenges facing Nigeria require a leader with the strength and capacity to address them.
He said, “I will not make age an issue in this campaign, but I will make it about energy – having energy, being able to stay up late, and having the rigour to deal with the challenges in the country.
“So, when they bring their own presidential candidate, let him come here and also jump down. If they can do that, vote for them.”
