The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has officially registered Governor Siminalayi Fubara as a member of the party.
A photograph shared by Tony Okocha, media aide to the state APC chairman, shows Governor Fubara placing his thumbprint in a book believed to be the party’s register.
The registration was carried out on Friday at the Government House in Port Harcourt.
Very Nigerian reports that Governor Fubara had earlier announced his intention to join the APC on Tuesday.
He explained that his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the APC is in the interest of the people of Rivers State and also a gesture of appreciation to President Bola Tinubu, whom he credited as the reason he remains the Governor of Rivers State.
