Tinubu embarks on Borno, Bauchi, Lagos visit ahead of year-end holidays
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to embark on a three-state working visit this weekend, travelling from Abuja to Borno, Bauchi and Lagos.
The itinerary was announced in a statement issued on Friday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
According to the statement, President Tinubu will begin the trip in Borno State, where he is expected to commission a number of federal and state government projects alongside Governor Babagana Zulum.
The visit underscores the federal government’s continued engagement with development efforts in the North-East region.
While in Maiduguri, the President is also scheduled to attend the wedding ceremony of Sadeeq Sheriff, son of former Borno State Governor and Senator, Ali Modu Sheriff, and Hadiza Kam Salem.
From Borno, President Tinubu will proceed to Bauchi State to commiserate with the family of Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, the revered Islamic scholar and leader of the Tijjaniyya Muslim Brotherhood, who passed away on November 27.
The visit to Bauchi is expected to be marked by prayers and condolences in honour of the late cleric, whose influence cut across religious and regional lines in Nigeria.
After the Bauchi engagement, the President will travel to Lagos for the end-of-year holidays.
While in the commercial capital, he is scheduled to attend the Eyo Festival on December 27 as Guest of Honour at the Tafawa Balewa Square.
The cultural festival will also celebrate notable personalities, including President Tinubu’s mother, Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji, as well as former Lagos State Governors, Alhaji Lateef Jakande and Chief Michael Otedola, in recognition of their contributions to the state’s history and development.
