BREAKING: PDP suspends Samuel Anyanwu, Three Other Top NWC Members
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended four senior national officers following a Federal High Court ruling in Abuja that stopped the party from holding its planned national convention.
Those affected by the one-month suspension are the National Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN); National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu; Deputy Legal Adviser, Okechukwu Osuoha; and National Organizing Secretary, Umaru Bature.
The decision was made during an emergency NWC meeting held on Saturday at the party’s Legacy House in Maitama, Abuja.
Briefing journalists after the meeting, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, said the action was in line with the party’s constitution and disciplinary procedures.
According to him, “The NWC, in line with the party’s constitution, came to the following conclusion: the National Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN); Deputy Legal Adviser, Okechukwu Osuoha; National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu; and National Organizing Secretary have been suspended for one month and referred to the PDP Disciplinary Committee.”
The suspension comes amid growing internal divisions in the party following the Abuja Federal High Court’s decision restraining the PDP from proceeding with its national convention until it complies with certain legal and procedural requirements.
