Niger State Governor, Mohammed Bago, has expressed delight over the impressive voter turnout recorded during the local government council elections across the state, describing it as a reflection of the people’s trust in the democratic process.

Speaking after casting his vote at his Tswashagirabba Polling Unit 010 in Landzun Ward, Bida Local Government Area, Governor Bago said the large turnout demonstrated citizens’ growing confidence in the electoral system.

“This is an experience that shows the acceptance of democracy in Nigeria.”

“The turnout here is unprecedented; even during the general elections, we didn’t have this number.”

“It shows the populace trusts the system,” he said.

The governor also appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for allowing sub-national governments to conduct their local government elections, noting that the move promotes grassroots democracy.

He urged voters to remain orderly and patient as they awaited the announcement of results, while wishing all candidates success in the polls.

Similarly, the governor’s Political Adviser, Nma Kolo, said the impressive turnout reflected the people’s confidence in the election process and in the governor’s leadership.

“Whatever development you see in Niger State is not only for APC supporters but for the entire people of the state.”

“The governor provides inclusive leadership, and that’s why there is peace across the state,” Kolo stated.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, who visited several polling units in Minna metropolis, including Tunga, Maitumbi, Angwan-Sarki, and Bosso, commended the peaceful conduct of the elections.
