President Tinubu departs for State visit to Türkiye
The visit aims to strengthen diplomatic and economic ties between Nigeria and Türkiye.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday departed Abuja for a state visit to the Republic of Türkiye, aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations.
The President left Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at about 2:05 p.m. for the official engagement, which seeks to enhance cooperation in security, education, social development, innovation, and aviation.
According to a statement from Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the visit builds on diplomatic momentum established during Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s official visit to Nigeria in October 2021.
During the trip, both countries are expected to hold strategic political and diplomatic discussions, focusing on trade, investment, finance, and communications.
The programme will also include meetings between senior officials of both governments and the signing of several memoranda of understanding (MoUs) covering scientific research, energy, technical cooperation, media, military collaboration, and protocol.
A business forum will run alongside the visit, bringing together Nigerian and Turkish investors to explore opportunities for mutual economic growth.
President Tinubu’s delegation includes key ministers and senior officials, among them:

Director-General, National Intelligence Agency, Mohammed Mohammed
The President is expected to return to Nigeria at the conclusion of the state visit.
