Super Eagles forward Chukwueze loses mother after brief illness
It follows closely after Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi lost his father.
Super Eagles winger, Samuel Chukwueze, has been thrown into deep mourning following the death of his mother, Mrs. Sarah Chukwueze, after a brief illness.
The heartbreaking news was announced by his brother, David Chukwueze, who took to Instagram to share emotional posts confirming the loss and paying glowing tribute to their late mother.
Although details surrounding her illness were not made public, the announcement has sparked an outpouring of condolences from fans, teammates and football stakeholders across Nigeria and beyond.
Mrs. Chukwueze’s death comes at a painful time for Nigerian football, just two days after Super Eagles captain, Wilfred Ndidi, lost his father in a fatal road accident in Delta State.
The back-to-back tragedies have cast a pall over the Super Eagles camp, with many describing it as a sombre period for the national team.
