€40m Deal close as Lookman prefers Atlético Madrid move
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano disclosed the development on Sunday.
Atlético Madrid are reportedly on the verge of completing the signing of Nigerian international Ademola Lookman after reaching a verbal agreement with his current club, according to renowned transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Romano reported on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday that the deal is valued at €40 million, with formal steps expected imminently. The transfer is said to be close to finalisation.
Despite reportedly receiving a higher salary offer from Turkish side Fenerbahçe, Lookman has expressed a clear preference to join Atlético Madrid, signalling his ambition to play in Spain and compete at one of Europe’s top clubs.
Romano’s update confirms that all parties are aligned, with Atlético moving swiftly to secure the winger ahead of other interested clubs.
