Fire razes popular market in Kano

Parts of the Singa Market, a major hub for essential commodities in Kano, were destroyed by fire early Monday.
Details about the incident were still unclear at the time of reporting.
The Kano State Fire Service confirmed receiving a distress call around 3:16 a.m. Spokesperson Saminu Yusif said firefighting teams were immediately dispatched to contain the blaze.
He said that at around 10 am, pockets of the market were still burning, with firemen battling to bring the situation under control and prevent further spread.
He assured that details on the incident would be made available to journalists later.
