2027: Osun APC backs Tinubu re-election bid, welcomes five PDP lawmakers

Leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State on Saturday officially endorsed President Bola Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election.

The event also marked the defection of five National Assembly members from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) into the APC. Among them are Senators Francis Fadahunsi (Osun East) and Olubiyi Fadeyi (Osun Central), along with House of Representatives members Wole Oke, Sanya Omirin, and Taokeek Ajilesoro.

Held at Freedom Park and overseen by the APC National Secretary, Dr Ajibola Basiru, the ceremony saw the State party leader and Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Mr Gboyega Oyetola, formally receive the lawmakers into the party.

Speaking before the official reception, Oyetola disclosed that the defection of the National Assembly members is a testament to President Bola Tinubu’s progressive leadership in the country and their love for the growth of Osun State.

“In the APC, there are no strangers — we are one united family. Your arrival strengthens our resolve to reclaim Osun and restore dignity to governance.

“The difference between rhetoric and results is evident at the federal level under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. When he assumed office, Nigeria’s economy stood at the brink. Bold decisions were required, and bold decisions were made. Today, those reforms are yielding results,” he said.

Also speaking, the APC governorship candidate in the State, Mr Bola Oyebamiji, commended President Bola Tinubu’s bold decision, which has placed the country on the path of sustainable development, stressing the need to continue on the path in 2027.

In his welcome address, the Osun State Chairman of APC, Tajudeen Lawal, noted that both old and new members of the party will be treated equally, stressing the need to win the 2026 gubernatorial election.

“This is to restore the lost glory of our state since over three years ago that its administration has been in the hand of a political novice who has either drastically reversed or absolutely lost all the gains of the past through crass exhibition of ineptitude in the public office,” he said.
