Ted Cruz vows to name Nigerian Officials behind Christian killings
United States Senator Ted Cruz has vowed to publicly name Nigerian government officials allegedly responsible for the killing of Christians in the country, following President Donald Trump’s decision to designate Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” (CPC).
In a statement shared on social media, Cruz said he has been advocating legislation to classify Nigeria as a CPC and to impose sanctions on those complicit in religious violence.
“I’ve been pushing legislation to designate Nigeria a CPC and to impose sanctions on the Nigerian officials responsible,” he wrote.
The Texas senator praised President Trump for his “leadership in imposing the designation” and for “fighting to stop the murder of Christians in Nigeria.”
Cruz added that he plans to move a step further by publicly identifying those within the Nigerian government who are allegedly linked to the violence.
“Now we should take the next step and hold Nigerian officials accountable. I intend to be very explicit about who they are in the coming days and weeks,” the senator said.
