Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have arrested a suspected commander of the Eastern Security Network, Sabastine Odo Odam, alongside Ejike Daniel, an alleged member of the Indigenous People of Biafra, during separate operations in Enugu State.

Security sources said the suspects were apprehended on Friday in Eha-Amufu and Umuhu communities, both located in the Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of the state.

According to the sources, the arrests followed several months of intelligence gathering and surveillance on the activities of the suspects.

The operation also comes amid ongoing security concerns in parts of the South-East, following a series of attacks on police stations and killings recorded between 2024 and 2026.

“Both men have confessed to being masterminds of a chain of attacks on police stations and carting away weapons, including the killing of 11 labourers (Feb ’26), 2 policemen (Jan ’26), 2 policemen (Dec ’25) and 1 policeman (’24), among others.

“The arrests represent a major success for the DSS in the fight against insecurity in the southeast and country at large,” one source said.

Residents of Isi-Uzo LGA expressed excitement at the news of the arrests filtered in. Many noted that the arrests will restore some peace to the affected communities.

Both suspects are currently in DSS custody awaiting arraignment in court, the source added.
