ITS OFFICIAL: Peter Obi picks up ADC membership card in Anambra
Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) after obtaining his party membership card.
Obi received the card during the flag-off ceremony of the ADC registration and mobilisation exercise in Anambra State on Saturday.
The event attracted party members, political stakeholders and supporters from across the state.
Move Ends Speculation Over Political Future
The development comes amid earlier speculation about Obi’s possible return to the Labour Party ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
However, by picking up the ADC membership card, the former Anambra State governor appears to have formally aligned with the party as political realignments begin ahead of the next general elections.
Obi Confirms Interest in 2027 Presidency
In a previous statement, Obi confirmed that he intends to contest the 2027 presidential election, stressing that he would not be intimidated by the large number of governors currently aligned with the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to him, several attempts have been made to discourage him from joining the race, but he remains determined to pursue the presidency.
Obi insisted that Nigeria needs leadership focused on economic recovery, governance reforms and national development, adding that he is committed to offering Nigerians a credible alternative.
