BREAKING: NNPCL slashes petrol price to N1,165 per litre
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has reduced the pump price of petrol after the Dangote Refinery announced a cut in its gantry price.
Very Nigerian gathered that NNPCL filling stations in Abuja and nearby areas on Wednesday adjusted their pump price to N1,165 per litre, down from N1,260 per litre sold on Tuesday.
The development represents a reduction of N95 per litre by the state-owned oil company.
Checks showed that the new price has already taken effect at several NNPCL outlets, including stations located in Jabi, Lifecamp, Wuse Zone 5 and Wuse Zone 4.
As of the time of filing this report, Automotive Gas Oil, also known as diesel, was selling for N1,535 per litre at the stations.
Similarly, other filling stations such as NIPCO, AP, and AA Rano now sell PMS at N1,195, N1,200, and N1,223 per liter, respectively.
A manager at MRS filling station, who preferred to remain anonymous, said the retail outlet would adjust its petrol price by N100 to N1,167 per liter from Thursday.
“We will reduce our petrol price to N1,167 per liter from Thursday,” he told Very Nigerian on Wednesday.
Earlier, Very Nigerian reported that Nigerian filling stations had slashed fuel prices by N20 per liter after Dangote Refinery lowered its gantry price to N1,075 amid a drop in crude oil prices.
As of filing this report, Brent and West Texas Intermediate crude stood at $91.76 and $86.86 per barrel, respectively.
