Alleged stolen N34 trillion: Nigerians deserve to know why Wale Edun was sacked – Dino Melaye
A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dino Melaye, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to publicly explain the circumstances surrounding the removal of Wale Edun as Minister of Finance.
Melaye’s reaction follows the recent cabinet reshuffle in which Edun was replaced by Taiwo Oyedele. The Presidency has yet to provide an official reason for the decision.
In a post shared on his official Facebook page, Melaye criticised the lack of transparency, insisting that governments in “civilised climes” typically offer clear explanations when top officials are dismissed.
He further raised allegations, questioning whether Edun’s removal was linked to an inability to conceal purportedly diverted public funds.
“Mr President, when Ministers are sacked in civilised climes, the government must explain why they are sacked.
“Was the minister of Finance removed because he could not cover up the stolen 24 billion dollars (34 trillion naira) diverted from our revenue? World Bank no dey lie,” he wrote.
As of the time of filing this report, the Federal Government has not responded to the claims, and no official confirmation has been made regarding the allegations referenced by Melaye.
