APC reschedules Adamawa congresses ahead of Gov Fintiri’s defection plans
The All Progressives Congress has announced the postponement of its planned State, Local Government and Ward congresses in Adamawa State.
The party made this known in a letter dated February 17, 2026, and addressed to the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
The letter was signed by the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, and the National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru. According to the party, a new date for the congresses will be communicated in due course.
“We write to inform you of the postponement of the State, Local Government and Ward Congresses for Adamawa State. A new date will be communicated to you in due course. Thank you and please accept the assurances of our highest regards,” the letter read.
It was gathered that the postponement is aimed at allowing Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri to complete a planned defection from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the APC ahead of the congresses.
