Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar received a rousing reception from party supporters and stakeholders as he arrived at his polling unit in Ajiya Ward, Jimeta-Yola, Adamawa State, to participate in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primary election.

Atiku successfully cast his vote in the historic nationwide direct primary, where party members across the country are voting to determine the ADC’s presidential flagbearer for the 2027 general election.

The former vice president, who is one of the leading contenders in the contest, was welcomed by enthusiastic supporters who turned out in large numbers at the polling centre.

The ADC presidential primary is being contested by Atiku Abubakar, former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, and economist Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, with voting taking place simultaneously across the federation.

Party officials say the exercise marks a significant milestone for the ADC as it prepares for the 2027 presidential election.
