Residents of Gazau village in Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State were thrown into panic after armed bandits carried out a midnight attack, abducting six people during the operation.

According to a source who spoke with Very Nigerian, the attackers stormed the community around 1:00 am on Monday, breaking into several homes and initially taking away 13 residents, including 12 women and one man.

The source explained that the victims were later taken to Dan Adama Forest, where the kidnappers reportedly changed their approach.

The captives were asked to identify themselves, after which the bandits released one person for every two individuals found to be from the same household.

Following this selection, six people were eventually taken away, while others regained their freedom.

The incident adds to the growing security concerns in parts of northern Nigeria, where communities continue to face repeated attacks by armed groups.

He further explained, “In the end, the assailants took six persons to their hideout, while seven others were freed.”

He gave the names of those abducted as Asabe Zakariya, Inno Ibrahim, Inno Musa, Umma Yusuf, Safina Abdullahi, and Saminu Jijji.

The source further revealed that the bandits threatened to continue launching daily attacks on the village unless residents sought amnesty from them.

The chairman of Isa LGA, Sharehu Abubakar Kamarawa, could not be reached by phone as his lines were unreachable.

Similarly, the Sokoto State Police Command spokesman, DSP Ahmad Rufai, did not respond to calls to his phone.
