Bauchi APC sets stage to receive Gov Bala Mohammed

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State has formally announced its readiness to receive Governor Bala Mohammed as he prepares to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The resolution was reached during a meeting of the Bauchi APC Caucus following consultations with the governor at his Abuja residence.

Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting, the Caucus Secretary and member representing Toro Federal Constituency, Dabo Isma’il, confirmed that discussions centred on the governor’s planned move to the ruling party.

He said the engagement followed earlier internal deliberations and a directive by party stakeholders to address concerns surrounding the defection process.

“We, as APC members in the state, have been meeting… We had a fruitful engagement with him,” Isma’il said.

According to him, the caucus later reconvened to brief members on the outcome of discussions with the governor, stressing alignment with the “Renewed Hope Agenda” of the federal government.

He noted that party leaders, including the National Chairman of the APC, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and the Vice President, had encouraged the governor to join the party.

“As lawmakers and stakeholders, we were consulted to ensure amicable discussions and agreements on how he will join the party,” he added.

The caucus assured members that no one would be sidelined or victimised following the development, describing it as a step toward strengthening the party ahead of future elections.

Former Bauchi State Governor and ex-Minister of Aviation, Isa Yuguda, also urged unity within the party, saying electoral victory remains the ultimate goal.

“We must work together, close ranks, and strengthen unity to ensure success in the upcoming general elections,” he said.

Similarly, Jafaru Gambo Leko, member representing Dass/Bogoro/Tafawa Balewa Federal Constituency, said consultations were ongoing to ensure fairness and inclusion among stakeholders.

The development marks a significant political shift in Bauchi State, as realignments continue ahead of the 2027 general elections.
