The Executive Secretary of the Bauchi State Health Contributory Management Agency (BASHCMA), Alhaji Ibrahim Ladan Duguri, has died alongside four of his children in a road accident at Yalwan Duguri in Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

Governor Bala Mohammed confirmed the tragedy, expressing profound sorrow over the deaths and describing the incident as a monumental loss to the state, particularly its health sector.

In a condolence message signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, the governor said Duguri made significant contributions to improving access to healthcare services in Bauchi through his dedication and commitment to public service.

Mohammed also extended his condolences to the deceased’s immediate family, the Duguri Emirate Council, friends, associates, colleagues and residents of the state over the tragic loss.

The governor further expressed concern for Suleiman, one of Duguri’s sons who reportedly survived the accident, and prayed for his full recovery, strength and comfort.

According to the condolence message, Duguri played an important role in advancing the state’s health contributory management system, particularly efforts to make healthcare more accessible to vulnerable and less privileged residents.

His contributions also extended to medical services during pilgrimage exercises in Saudi Arabia, where he served as part of the state’s medical team responsible for supporting the health and well-being of pilgrims.

Beyond his professional responsibilities, Mohammed described Duguri as a close personal friend and classmate, saying his death was a deeply personal loss in addition to the loss of a valued public servant.

The governor said Duguri’s life was marked by service, loyalty and dedication to humanity, adding that the circumstances surrounding his death had compounded the grief experienced by the bereaved family.

He acknowledged that words could not adequately express the family’s pain at such a difficult time and prayed for Allah’s forgiveness and mercy upon the deceased and his children.

Mohammed also prayed that Allah would accept their good deeds and grant them eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus.

The governor urged residents of Bauchi State and other well-meaning Nigerians to remember the bereaved family in their prayers and offer support and compassion as they mourn their loved ones.

The funeral prayer for Duguri and the deceased children was scheduled to hold at the palace of the District Head of Yalwan Duguri at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday.
