Bauchi NDC governorship candidate Ibrahim Kashim resigns from party
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) governorship candidate in Bauchi State, Ibrahim Muhammad Kashim, has resigned his membership of the party, raising questions about his political future ahead of the 2027 general election.
Kashim, a former Secretary to the Bauchi State Government, announced his resignation in a statement signed and released to the media in Bauchi on Monday.
He said his resignation took effect from October 16, 2026, adding that the decision followed careful reflection but would not affect his commitment to the political development of the state.
In the statement, Kashim assured his supporters that their political journey was far from over, promising to communicate the next phase of their political engagement in due course.
“My dear supporters, brothers and sisters, and the good people of Bauchi State, I wish to formally inform you that I have resigned my membership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), effective 16th October 2026. This decision, which follows careful reflection, does not in any way diminish my commitment to the political struggle for a better Bauchi State,” he said.
Kashim reiterated his commitment to what he described as the need for purposeful leadership, economic growth, improved security and greater opportunities for young people and women in Bauchi State.
“My conviction remains that our dear state deserves purposeful leadership, a stronger economy, greater opportunities for our youths and women, improved security, and a future in which every citizen can live with dignity and hope,” he added.
The former SSG said he would continue to engage with individuals and groups who shared his vision for a peaceful and prosperous Bauchi State.
He, however, did not disclose his next political move, saying he would announce the direction of his political engagement at the appropriate time.
“In due course, we shall communicate to you the next phase of our struggle and the direction we intend to take. Until then, I urge you to remain calm, steadfast, and united in our collective determination to build the Bauchi State of our dreams,” he said.
Kashim added that his political mission was bigger than any party, describing it as a commitment to the future of Bauchi State and Nigeria.
