The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council, has received a significant boost in its drive to complete the Ultramodern Congress Hall, following the donation of 600 bags of cement by indigenous firm Bespoke Urban Luxury Limited.

At a brief handover ceremony in Abuja, Arc Junias John Akaito and Kolade Oluwajuwkn Olaoye supervised the delivery of the first tranche of 300 bags, marking a milestone in the council’s quest to provide a befitting edifice for journalists in the nation’s capital.

Receiving the materials, NUJ FCT Council Chairman, Comrade Grace Ike, praised Dr Christain Olatunji, CEO of Bespoke Urban Luxury Limited, for supporting the media community and investing in infrastructure that will strengthen journalism practice and professional engagement.

She described the donation as timely and strategic, noting that the congress hall would serve as a hub for professional development, welfare coordination, training, and constructive engagement between journalists and stakeholders.

“This gesture by Bespoke Urban Luxury Limited is a clear demonstration of confidence in the Nigerian media and the vital work we do. The NUJ FCT Council is committed to building a functional Congress Hall that will serve as a centre for training, innovation, and the welfare of our members,” Comrade Ike said.

She also assured the donor of transparency in the utilisation of the materials and reaffirmed the council’s determination to deliver a project that will stand the test of time.

Representatives of Bespoke Urban Luxury Limited explained that Dr Olatunji’s intervention was inspired by the critical role of the media in national development and democratic consolidation. The donation aligns with the company’s corporate social responsibility objectives, focusing on community growth and institutional capacity building.

Members of the NUJ FCT Council described the donation as exemplary and called on other corporate organisations, public-spirited individuals, and development partners to emulate the gesture.

Upon completion, the NUJ FCT Ultramodern Congress Hall will provide offices, training halls, and modern facilities to enhance journalism practice in the Federal Capital Territory.

The council reiterated its appeal for continued partnerships and support from government agencies and the private sector to ensure the project’s speedy completion.
