BREAKING: DSS drags ex-AGF Malami, son to Court over alleged terrorism financing
The Department of State Services has arraigned former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, alongside his son before the Federal High Court in Abuja over allegations linked to terrorism financing.
The duo appeared before Justice Joyce Abdulmalik on a five-count charge and both pleaded not guilty to the accusations.
According to the charge filed against him, Malami allegedly aided and supported terrorism financing by failing, while serving as Attorney General of the Federation, to begin prosecution against suspected terrorism financiers whose case files were said to have been submitted to his office.
The DSS further alleged that Malami and his son engaged in preparatory acts linked to terrorism by unlawfully possessing prohibited weapons and ammunition without the required licence.
Items listed in the charge include a Sturm Magnum 17-0101 firearm, 16 live Redstar AAA 5.20 cartridges, and 27 expended cartridges of the same brand.
The court was also told that the former Attorney General had earlier been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, over allegations relating to fraud and money laundering.
The case has been adjourned to a later date for further proceedings.
