BREAKING: ICPC returns El-Rufai to custody after Mother’s burial
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has returned former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, to its custody following multiple court appearances in Kaduna.
El-Rufai, who was earlier granted temporary release on March 27, 2026, on compassionate grounds after the death of his mother, appeared before the Kaduna State High Court over a separate charge filed by the anti-graft agency.
However, proceedings at the State High Court could not go on as scheduled due to the absence of the second defendant in the matter, leading to an adjournment of the case to April 10, 2026.
Following the stalled hearing, the former governor was subsequently moved to the Federal High Court in Kaduna, where his bail application in an ongoing corruption trial is expected to be heard.
The development marks a continuation of legal proceedings involving the former governor, whose case has attracted significant public attention across the country.
