BREAKING: Several feared trapped as Ugo West Hotel collapses in Abuja
Several persons have reportedly been trapped after a hotel building identified as Ugo West Hotel, still under construction, collapsed in the Jikwoyi area of Abuja on Friday.
The incident triggered panic in the community, as residents and passersby rushed to the scene in a desperate bid to assist with rescue efforts.
Eyewitnesses said the structure suddenly gave way, leaving workers and other occupants buried beneath the rubble.
As of the time of filing this report, the exact number of those trapped or injured remains unclear, while emergency responders are being awaited at the scene.
Local volunteers have begun initial rescue attempts, working to remove debris in a bid to save those feared trapped.
Authorities are yet to release an official statement regarding the cause of the collapse.
