BREAKING: Tinubu extends tenure of NCoS, Immigration service chiefs until 2028
President Bola Tinubu has approved an 18-month extension of the tenures of two heads of Nigeria’s security agencies.
The affected officials are Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche, Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), and Kemi Nanna Nandap, Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).
The approval was announced in a statement issued on Monday by Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy.
According to the statement, Nwakuche will remain in office until May 26, 2028, while Nandap’s tenure has been extended until June 30, 2028.
Onanuga said the extension followed a recommendation by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
The President commended both officers for the reforms recorded under their leadership and asked them to build on the gains.
Very Nigerian recalls that Tinubu appointed Nwakuche as CG of the Correctional Service in December 2024 and the Senate confirmed him in March 2025.
Similarly, Kemi Nanna Nandap was nominated as Comptroller-General of Immigration on February 21, 2024, and her appointment was confirmed by the Senate on March 1, 2024.
