IRCC said the invitations were issued to eligible candidates who ranked among the first 1,000 candidates in the pool.

What Is the Tie-Breaking Rule?

Where multiple candidates have the same lowest CRS score, IRCC uses the date and time candidates submitted their Express Entry profiles to determine who receives an invitation.

For this draw, the tie-breaking rule was August 17, 2026, at 22:09:00 UTC.

Who Is Eligible Under the Canadian Experience Class?

The Canadian Experience Class is designed for skilled workers who already have Canadian work experience and want to obtain permanent residence.

Applicants generally need:

  • At least one year or 1,560 hours of eligible skilled work experience in Canada within the previous three years.
  • Work experience in occupations classified under NOC TEER 0, 1, 2 or 3.
  • The required language proficiency.
  • Plans to live outside Quebec.

Language Requirements

The minimum language requirement depends on the occupation:

Occupation Minimum Language Requirement
TEER 0 or 1 CLB 7
TEER 2 or 3 CLB 5

Applicants under the Canadian Experience Class do not need a specific education qualification and are generally not required to provide proof of settlement funds.

How Express Entry Works

Express Entry is Canada’s online immigration system for managing applications from skilled workers under three federal economic immigration programmes:

  • Canadian Experience Class
  • Federal Skilled Worker Program
  • Federal Skilled Trades Program

Candidates create an Express Entry profile and receive a CRS score based on factors including:

  • Age
  • Education
  • Language ability
  • Work experience
  • Other human-capital factors

The highest-ranked candidates are invited to apply for permanent residence during regular invitation rounds.

August 2026 CEC Draw Compared

The latest draw was more selective than an earlier CEC invitation round.

Draw Date Invitations CRS Cut-off
August 5, 2026 3,000 516
August 18, 2026 1,000 523

The August 18 draw issued fewer invitations while requiring a higher CRS score of 523.

Important for Applicants

Receiving an invitation to apply does not automatically guarantee permanent residence. Invited candidates must submit a complete application and satisfy IRCC’s requirements within the specified period.

Applicants should also ensure that their Express Entry profiles contain accurate and up-to-date information.

The August 18, 2026 draw issued 1,000 invitations with a CRS cut-off of 523 under the Canadian Experience Class.
