Converted but Unbroken: Why the Church needs broken Christians now – Apostle Dorathy Esu

Christian faithful have been urged to embrace brokenness in spirit, allowing God to truly transform their lives for the growth of the Church.

Addressing the Congregation on Sunday at World Harvest Ministries Inc Jikwoyi Abuja, Apostle Dorathy Esu Biosio used the occasion to call on brethren to be broken in Christ

Drawing from Psalm 51:16-17 and Psalm 34:18, her message titled “Converted but Not Broken” exposed a critical flaw in modern Christianity: too many believers are converted yet unbroken, leading to stagnation in the church.

Apostle Esu noted that many pray fervently but lack a personal relationship with God. According to her “What God requires from Christians is brokenness,” she said

“The problem of the church is unbroken Christians who are proud, can’t be corrected and arrogant people who give everyone headaches.

” She urged self-reflection: “Where is the place of God in the life of every Christian

Without brokenness, she warned, year after year passes with believers attending church but showing no growth.

“Any church where there is brokenness experiences growth, healing, and transformation,” she emphasized.

Quoting Proverbs, she added, “If someone loves you, he has to correct you—that means he really loves you.”

God desires this surrender, as promised in Ezekiel 36:26, where he replaces a stony heart with a heart of flesh and a new spirit.

Brokenness, Apostle Esu explained, is total surrender not just an emotion, but an attitude of love for God.

It means “not I, but Christ,” responding to the Holy Spirit with humility, obedience, and genuine repentance.

She illustrated with the biblical story of Peter, who denied Jesus but repented deeply, proving his brokenness.
The apostle outlined key purposes of brokenness to include : Building humility, Creates obedience, Develops spiritual strength, Prepares for greater responsibility, Allows God to shape your life, Fosters compassion for others and makes us vessels for Christ

The Cleric concluded the Sunday sermon with fervent prayers, asking God to grant the congregation the spirit of brokenness in Jesus’ name, envisioning a thriving church replaced by humble, transformed believers
