Crisis rocks Adamawa APC as guber aspirant dumps party

A new crisis has hit the Adamawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress following the resignation of several members of the party.

The group, led by governorship aspirant Maurice Vunobolki, announced their exit during a press conference held on Tuesday in Yola.

Vunobolki alleged that there are moves within the party to impose a governorship candidate, a development he said prompted their decision to leave.

“I recognised the signs of a system that is tilting toward impositions rather than democratic choices. There is a growing likelihood that decisions will be made through manipulated consensus rather than a transparent and credible process.”

Vunobolki, who accused Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of compromising by not upholding his words of transparency and fairness during the primary election, pointed out that the APC may face a crisis that could affect the party in the general elections.

“There are credible and evidential indications of irregular membership registration, using people’s NIN without their consent, aimed at having a large membership voting population in Yola North local government,” he said.

He added, “In light of these developments and after extensive consultations with stakeholders across the state, I hereby announce my resignation from the All Progressives Congress effective from Monday, 13th April 2026.”

He said that the decision became necessary to enable him to pursue a more credible and democratic platform, where, according to him, there is transparency, fairness, and equal opportunities for all participants.

“I call on all my supporters across the 21 local governments of Adamawa state to also withdraw their membership from APC and await further guidance on our next steps,” he said.
