DSS nab suspected gun runner with 850 bullets in C’River
Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have arrested a suspected gun runner in Cross River State, recovering no fewer than 850 live rounds of ammunition during the operation.
The suspect was apprehended in the early hours of Tuesday in a community within the state, following a covert operation by DSS operatives.
According to sources within the agency, “the arrest followed credible intelligence on the movement of illegal arms in the area”.
According to the sources, the suspect was intercepted while allegedly transporting the ammunition to an undisclosed destination, raising concerns over possible threats to public safety.
Items recovered from the suspect include 850 live bullets, believed to be intended for criminal activities.
The DSS has since taken the suspect into custody for further interrogation and investigation, while efforts are ongoing to track down other members of the network.
