ECOWAS Chair President Bio visits Tinubu in Aso Rock
President Bola Tinubu on Friday evening hosted President Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Although details of their meeting were not made public, sources believe the discussion centered on regional peace, security, and economic integration within the West African sub-region.
President Bio, who succeeded President Tinubu as chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in June, has been leading efforts to strengthen cooperation among member states.
The meeting came four months after Bio assumed the ECOWAS chairmanship.
On his verified X handle, the Sierra Leonean leader said he arrived in Abuja to deliver a speech at Baze University’s 12th convocation and to engage with African business leaders.
This visit marks Bio’s first official trip to Nigeria since taking over as ECOWAS chair. Both leaders are expected to deepen collaboration on democracy promotion, counterterrorism, and sustainable development across the region.
