EPL: Fulham beat 10-man Chelsea 2-1
Harry Wilson struck late to hand Fulham a dramatic 2-1 Premier League victory over Chelsea on Wednesday, condemning the visitors to defeat despite the presence of new head coach Liam Rosenior, who watched from the stands.
Chelsea, already reduced to 10 men, struggled to cope with Fulham’s pressure as the game wore on.
The decisive moment came in the 81st minute when Wilson reacted quickest after goalkeeper Robert Sanchez pushed away an initial effort, finishing calmly as Fulham continued to press against a tiring Chelsea side.
The goal capped a strong second-half display from Fulham, who took advantage of Chelsea’s numerical disadvantage and lack of control late in the match.
For Chelsea, the loss added to a difficult night, with Rosenior left to observe the challenges awaiting him as he prepares to officially take charge of the Blues.
Chelsea had equalised through Liam Delap in the 72nd after Fulham’s 55th-minute opener – a diving header from Raul Jimenez.
The defeat, after Marc Cucurella was sent off in the 22nd minute for dragging down Wilson when he was running through on goal, meant Chelsea have won only one of their last nine Premier League games with coach Enzo Maresca departing on New Year’s Day.
