FCT Police apprehend three suspects over killing of Abuja Lawyer
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with the killing of Nwamaka Chigbo, a lawyer and former treasurer of the FCT branch of the Nigerian Bar Association.
Police spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh said the suspects, members of a notorious “one-chance” armed robbery syndicate, were apprehended between Friday and Saturday in Dei-Dei, Dakwa, and Dan-Tata communities in Kubwa, following digital tracking of the victim’s mobile phone.
According to the police, the suspects—Saifullahi Yusuf (22), Ishau Yusuf (24), and Minka’ilu Jibril, aka Dan-Hajia—admitted to extorting and assaulting Chigbo after she boarded their black Volkswagen Golf 3 on January 5. When she refused to comply, they reportedly pushed her out of the moving vehicle, resulting in her death.
The suspects also confessed to stealing her Android phone, which they later sold for N120,000. Saifullahi and Ishau are brothers, while another accomplice, Musa, remains at large.
Recovered items include scissors, knives, a long chain, and a plier believed to have been used in the gang’s criminal activities. Investigations are ongoing as police intensify efforts to apprehend the remaining suspect and uncover the syndicate’s network.
