Forbes names Okonjo-Iweala, Mo Abudu among 2025 world’s most powerful women
Two respected Nigerian women, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and media executive Mo Abudu, have again made the country proud after being listed among Forbes’ 100 World’s Most Powerful Women for 2025.
Their inclusion highlights their remarkable achievements and growing influence across the globe.
Okonjo-Iweala, who appears at number 92 on the list, continues to break records as the first woman and the first African to lead the World Trade Organisation (WTO) as Director-General.
With more than three decades of experience in international development, she has also served twice as Nigeria’s Finance Minister and briefly as Foreign Minister.
Her leadership at the WTO has been widely praised for pushing global trade reforms and promoting trade as a tool for sustainable development and poverty reduction, especially in developing countries.
Mo Abudu, ranked 98th, is a media pioneer and founder of EbonyLife Media, which has revolutionised African entertainment and storytelling.
Her network, EbonyLife TV, reaches over 49 countries, and she has forged groundbreaking partnerships with global giants like Sony Pictures, AMC Networks, and Netflix. Abudu’s vision has positioned her as one of the most influential women in global media.
Their recognition alongside other powerful women like Ursula von der Leyen, Christine Lagarde, and newcomers like Kim Kardashian, underscores the growing impact of women leaders in shaping global industries and narratives.
