Fresh attack in Borno as Boko Haram storms Benishiekh, hits military base
Suspected members of Boko Haram/ISWAP have once again carried out a late-night attack on Benishiekh town along the Maiduguri–Damaturu Road in Borno State, according to sources.
Benishiekh, which serves as the headquarters of Kaga Local Government Area, came under attack around 11 p.m. on Tuesday, throwing residents into panic and raising fresh concerns about safety in the area.
A credible source said the attackers were reportedly directing their movements toward the 29 Task Force Brigade of Operation Hadin Kai, the same location where Brigadier-General O. O. Braimah was killed alongside some soldiers on April 9.
Meanwhile, or correspondent observed fighter jets and helicopters hovering around the city of Maiduguri, the state capital, which is about 75kms drive from Benesheikh.
Details later.
