Fubara floored as Wike loyalists emerge APC candidates for Rivers By-Elections
Ukalikpe clinched the ticket for Ahoada East Constituency II, while Loolo won Khana Constituency II.
Hon. Napoleon Ukalikpe and Mrs. Bulabari Henrietta Loolo have emerged as candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Ahoada East Constituency II and Khana Constituency II by-elections scheduled for February 21 in Rivers State.
The two aspirants clinched victory at the party’s primaries, defeating other contenders, including candidates reportedly backed by Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
Party sources said Ukalikpe and Loolo were favoured by former Rivers State Governor and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, a factor believed to have influenced the outcome of the exercise.
The primaries followed ward delegate congresses conducted on Sunday, January 25, 2026, across Ahoada East and Khana Local Government Areas, where delegates were elected to participate in the APC’s candidate selection process.
According to party officials, the congresses were peaceful and orderly, with no major incidents recorded during the exercise.
Observers from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies monitored the process, while five delegates were elected from each ward in both constituencies.
The by-elections are being held to fill vacant seats in the Rivers State House of Assembly.
