Gabriel Jesus joins Barcelona from Arsenal until 2029

Barcelona have signed Brazilian forward Gabriel Jesus from Arsenal on a deal that will keep him at the Spanish club until 2029.

The move was completed on Tuesday after Barcelona failed in their attempt to sign Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez.

“Barcelona and Arsenal have reached a deal for the Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus,” the Catalan club said in a statement.

Spanish media reports said Barcelona paid about €10 million ($11.5 million) for the 29-year-old striker.

Jesus is expected to strengthen Barcelona’s attack following the departures of Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres earlier this summer.

Spanish champions Barca pursued Alvarez through the summer but Atletico refused to negotiate with the Catalan giants.
