Ghana fire Head Coach Otto Addo after Germany defeat
Ghana have dismissed head coach Otto Addo just hours after a friendly loss to Germany, with a little over 70 days remaining before the World Cup.
The Black Stars suffered a 2-1 defeat in Stuttgart on Monday, with the hosts relying on a late goal from Deniz Undav to secure the win.
The result marked a fourth straight loss for Addo’s team, coming days after they were heavily beaten 5-1 by Austria, raising concerns about the team’s form ahead of the global tournament.
“The association wishes to thank Otto Addo sincerely for his contribution to the team and wishes him the best of luck in his future endeavours,” the Ghana Football Association (GFA) said.
It will “communicate the new technical direction of the Black Stars in due course”.
The 50-year-old Addo had been in charge since March 2024.
Ghana are grouped with England, Croatia and Panama at the World Cup in North America this summer.
