Gunfire, explosions reported near Niamey Airport in Niger

The events were first disclosed on Thursday by Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency and security expert in the Lake Chad region, who cited information from local sources.
According to the reports, the airport vicinity experienced heavy detonations and sustained gunfire before calm reportedly returned.
